Branches Motifs

Download Motifs PDF

Explore this collection of Tatreez branches (عروق), a distinctive element in Palestinian Tatreez, featured on the side panels of thobes from various Palestinian regions. A branch is created through the repetition of a motif, with its length varying according to the number of times the unit is repeated. Branches can be constructed in several ways, with motifs appearing separated, closely connected, or interwoven to form a continuous band. Color may also be used to distinguish individual units or to visually unite them into a cohesive design. These variations demonstrate how a single motif can be repeated and transformed into larger patterns found throughout Palestinian embroidery.
